November 3, 1883 - Echo Canyon, Colorado

A man seen several times living in the wilds of Echo Canyon. Reportedly runs way from other humans "as if badly frightened", wears ragged clothes and is a very skilled runner. None of the locals found a location he might be living. [1]

January 12, 1884 - Echo Canyon, Colorado

Tracks were found in the mountains near Echo Canyon, believed to be made by a bear although on closer examination were "a human foot rudely protected from the snow by wrappings of some kind." After several miles, the tracks were lost in rugged terrain. [2]

August 19, 1891 - Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Texas

Three distinct wild folk from around North America, two men and a woman. One man was identified as a previous resident of Scottdale, Pennsylvania who had apparently disappeared 20 years previously. [3]

Mountaineers in West Virginia "complain" about a wild man who was believed to have died in a cavern. [4]

A hunter in Liberty County, Texas encountered a nude, middle-aged woman wearing a loincloth of gray moss. She was described as being covered in hair around four inches long, and took flight after the hunter attempted to corral her from the forest. [5]

July 20, 1897 - Rome, Ohio

Two men cutting timber encountered a "gorillalike" wild man who they drove into the cliffs after a struggle. The described him as being six feet tall and nude apart from a mat of long, curly hair. [6]

July 11, 1901 - Vandalia, Illinois

A nude male with "slight growth of hair" seasonally visits an area of Vandalia, Illinois, when the blackberries are ripe. Farmers also reported livestock going missing and being found half-eaten in the woods. [7]

July 28, 1904 - Taylor Park, Colorado

A horseman named Jack Atkinson gives chase to a 7 foot tall, blue eyed man "covered with hair and a long mane in front, of a black and dun color." The wild man dropped to all fours and outran the horseman, uprooting a sapling and using it to vault over the side of a hill.

Atkinson encountered the wild man a mile further down the road where it began throwing boulders at him. Atkinson noted the wild man was wearing a necklace of gems resembling ruby and emerald, which the man would touch the boulders to before throwing them. [8]

May 13, 1908 - Connecticut

A tall, barefooted man with a grey beard who ran like a deer was seen by a "prominent citizen". A child later witnessed the man crouching and whistling to a rabbit, which immobilized it. [9]

July 16, 1920 - Florida

Humanoid that swings from trees and has some power of speech, sighted by a dozen different people. [10]
