Tidal inversion in West Cork

Courtmacsherry, Ireland - 18 Jun 2022

The sea in west Cork, Ireland spontaneously drained itself to the level of a low tide.[1]

Seismologists recorded a 2.6 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Portugal within the same hour although this was ruled out as a cause.

Meteorologists believe it was the result of a meteotsunami in the Atlantic, where a rapid change of air pressure creates very large waves out at sea.[2]
